Sustainability and Nature

Situated in one of the Philippines' most biodiverse locations, we have a commitment towards ensuring that as an eco resort, we champion programs and policies that ensure that we only do good for our land and surroundings and all life that depend on it.

  • We are 100% powered by renewable energy, harnessing the power of the sun to supply us with our electricity and minimizing our carbon footprint.
  • We source responsibly and consciously. For instance, we only work with suppliers with permits to supply wood, where wood is grown in private farms and not collected or illegally logged from our forests.
  • We have a native tree nursery which houses species of forest trees, to aid us in reforestation efforts in Nacpan beach and in El Nido. Conserving our forests means caring for biodiversity that depend on it, including ourselves. We also use native plants in landscaping.
  • We are continuously growing our farm-to-table concept, where produce can be used at the restaurant to make our culinary offerings.
  • We do not carry single-use plastics in our sanctuary, and are consciously minimizing solid waste generated from our property.
  • We are composting food waste from the kitchen, for fertilizer for our gardens.

Culture and Communities

We strive to promote local culture in everything we do and everything you see in our sanctuary. Communities make up culture, and we promote working with local communities which you will see from the team members we employ down to everything in our supply chain and aesthetics. This also enables us to give livelihood to members of local communities within Palawan, and other parts of the Philippines.

  • All beachfront lodges make use of natural and local design and products, supporting indigenous communities and promoting local culture.
  • Most of our interior were handcrafted by locals, such as the tables and chairs in the bedrooms and restaurant which are made from different native materials from non-timber forest products (NTFPs). The walls, blinds for doors, lamps, roofing were all sourced locally. The artwork centerpieces in your rooms were handcrafted by indigenous people.
  • We employ all Filipino staff, majority of which are from the surrounding communities of Nacpan beach. Our goal is local community empowerment and engagement, and to provide opportunities for those in our community.
  • We promote community-based nature tourism to guests, ensuring that we get to support the livelihood of communities in the process.

Wellness In and Out

Our sanctuary was designed to be a place for people and nature. We host yoga and nature retreats and safe spaces for communities to connect inwards, outwards, and to nature all around them, hopefully inspiring healthy relationships to self, community, and the environment we all depend on. We are continuously transforming our space to host wellness activities beyond retreats, using healing techniques and modalities.
